Salsa Mukluk 2 (The Bulk)

I got really into winter riding which peaked my interest in fat bikes. For months I dreamed of getting a fat bike. I actually was dreaming about it, no joke. I kept tabs on Fat-bike.com for months and read the adventures of one of my favorite blogs fattiremn.blogspot.com over and over again. So I pinched some pennies and I purchased my fat bike. It has been a lot of fun and I am super excited to try some winter bike camping with it this winter. I regret nothing. The stock crank-set is junk, there is no way to put it nicely. Other than that I love the bike. I recently upgraded to SRAM XO grip shifters when I tore off my rear derailleur when a stick jumped in it and figured it was time for new cables and bottom bracket any way. I have a few upgrades planned: new crank-set, Thompson seat-post, Brooks saddle, and once my hubs are shot I will rebuild the wheels with the hope hubs. I have quite a few things planned for this bike this winter (2013). Eventually, I would like to do the Arrowhead 135. That is a ways down the road however.

Salsa El Mariachi 2 (Dirty Dancer)

I've never owned a mountain bike with real suspension. It is ridiculous how awesome this bike performs. I really couldn't be happier with it. I am still on the fence about the saddle, but I will figure that out next year. The only thing I could ever think to upgrade would be the disc brakes. I would really like to have the Shimano XT brakes instead of the SLX, but that is no where near a priority at this point. The starting spec on this bike is actually very good, even the wheels! It is just really nice to have a bike that I can finally ride some single track with.

Custom built Surly ECR (Workaholic J.R.)

It was time for something new. I got rid of the CrossCheck and got the ECR. Full SLX minus the XT Crankset. Avid BB7 disc brakes with Paul Engineering levers. Velocity Dually rims laced to a DT Swiss 350 rear hub and a Schmidt SON 28 front dynamo hub. I went with the Supernova E3 Pro headlight and taillight. Ritchey bars and Thomson seatpost with my good ol broken in Brooks saddle. As far as tires go I have been running the Knards but will be running the Big Apples when the ice is gone. I love this bike, a lot.
